Tokayev: Climate summits look like a large-scale fraud

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology on September 26, emphasized the strategic importance of science and modern technologies for every country. He said that the situations at the global climate summits are in many ways reminiscent of large-scale fraud.

The head of state recalled his participation in major summits in Dubai and Baku as an example and shared his impressions. "When I shared the situations I observed at past meetings with my colleagues and government representatives, the ongoing processes seemed more like mass fraud. "Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov can confirm my opinion," Tokayev said. He also recalled that US President Donald Trump recently expressed the same opinion from the UN platform: "Climate change is the biggest fraud in the world."

Following this, it was noted that Kazakhstan officially announced plans to implement a full decarbonization program within 35 years. According to Tokayev, the country currently produces 118 billion kilowatt-hours of energy annually. However, this indicator is insufficient, since with the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies, the demand for energy is constantly growing.

The President also emphasized the importance of rational and efficient use of energy sources. He particularly addressed the coal issue, stating that Kazakhstan extracts over 113 million tons of coal annually and ranks among the top ten countries in the world in this indicator.

Recall that on September 23, US President Donald Trump also assessed the climate crisis as "the biggest fraud." He emphasized that most of the predictions made by the UN and other international organizations have turned out to be false, and such a policy has caused economic losses to many countries. "If you don't abandon this 'green fraud,' your country will lose," the White House leader said.
