In Turkey, a traffic accident caused grief among our compatriots. According to information spread on social networks, in the city of Istanbul, a 17-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, S.S., died as a result of a car accident. Regarding this incident, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul made an official statement.
It was reported that on April 5 of this year, the young man sustained serious bodily injuries in the accident and was immediately hospitalized. Although doctors fought for his life for several days, despite all the medical treatment provided, unfortunately, he passed away on April 15. The deceased was buried on April 17 in Samarkand region.
Additional details about the case were also revealed. It became known that the Turkish citizen who caused the accident fled the scene, but the next day, expressing remorse, surrendered to the police. During the investigation, narcotic substances were found in his blood. Despite this, he has not been taken into custody at present. The court session is scheduled for October 2 of this year.
According to the Consulate General, the family members of the deceased did not contact the consulate at the time of the incident. Currently, the diplomatic mission is providing the necessary consular and legal assistance to his relatives.
Interestingly, in the messages currently circulating on social networks, it is said that S.S. was hit by the car on his birthday, while returning home with flowers for his mother. This detail caused even greater grief among our compatriots.
Experts emphasize that this incident once again brings to the agenda not only issues of road safety, but also the protection of the lives and rights of our compatriots abroad.
