U.S. President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington to discuss a peace plan aimed at ending the Gaza war. The conflict has lasted nearly two years, with Israel facing mounting international pressure.
Under Trump’s proposal, a ceasefire would come first, followed by the release of all hostages within 48 hours and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. The plan also envisions new negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
However, disagreements remain over the plan. Israel opposes some provisions, while Arab states are pushing their own demands. Egypt insists that the Palestinian Authority should not be sidelined, and Qatar continues to play a key mediating role.
While Trump voiced confidence in a deal, analysts said the process would not be easy. Netanyahu faces public discontent and political pressure. Still, the meeting is being seen as an important step toward peace.
