In the USA, political disputes over the issue of temporary financing of the federal government have intensified. The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has advised federal agencies to prepare for the potential suspension of government work. This was announced on September 30th by OMB Director Russell Wout in a statement posted on social media.
Shuttdown Preparation
Wout emphasized that government agencies now need to launch their own "disciplined shutdown plans." He called on federal agencies to closely monitor the development of the situation and assured that the OMB will constantly provide guidance on further steps.
"It is unknown how long the Democrats will maintain their rigid and unbalanced positions. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict how long the shutdown will last," the head of the OMB wrote.
Senate Barriers
As is known, the US Senate failed to approve any of the two bills that could sustain the government's long-term work. Each of these documents had to receive at least 60 votes. However, the bill proposed by the Republicans did not receive sufficient support in the Senate, although it was approved in the US House of Representatives.
Democrats also put forward their proposals, but they also failed to gain the required number of votes.
The root cause of the disagreements
According to experts, at the center of the dispute are issues related to healthcare costs. Since both parties are firm in their positions, it seems impossible to reach an agreement for now.
Shatdown time
According to the information, the temporary suspension of the government's work - that is, the shutdown - may begin on the night of September 30 to October 1, at midnight local time (on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Tashkent time). This increases the likelihood of complete or partial suspension of the service delivery process in federal agencies.
