Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkiyan once again raised the issue of moving the capital from Tehran to another location during a meeting with entrepreneurs in the Hormuzgan region. The President emphasized that this decision is not just a choice, but a commitment to the future of the country. According to him, if the situation in Tehran is ignored, environmental and social problems will only worsen. Pezeshkiyan also stated that the Supreme Leader had told Ali Khamenei the need to move the capital to the Persian Gulf.
The President noted that there are serious reasons for the implementation of this proposal. "Our water reserves are dwindling day by day, and the subsidence of the earth has reached 30 centimeters in some areas of Tehran," he said. This poses a serious threat not only in the ecological, but also in the social and economic spheres. The enormous problems in Tehran, including water scarcity, air pollution, and soil subsidence, indicate the need to make important decisions to improve the living conditions of the population.
Tehran has been the capital of Iran since 1795 and currently has a population of over 13 million. Considering such a large population and complex infrastructure, Pezeshkiyon proposes to move the capital to the southern coast. Here, the state can benefit from economic, political, and environmental aspects. According to Pezeshkiyon, such a step will greatly contribute to the sustainable development of the state.
