Official executed for $60 million bribe in China

Chinese high-ranking official Wang Bo was sentenced to death for corruption. From the beginning of 2003 to May 2024, he used his official position to take bribes totaling 449 million yuan (approximately $58.5 million).

According to HK01, Wang Bo pleaded guilty in court and actively participated in the investigation. Therefore, the court deferred the death penalty for two years.

In recent years, the fight against corruption in China has intensified dramatically. As a result, many officials were removed from their posts, and some were sentenced to life imprisonment.
