US President Donald Trump has issued a new statement on ending the war in Ukraine. According to the head of state, Washington is making every effort to resolve the conflict peacefully.
"We are trying to reach an agreement. If it happens - it will be very good for everyone. But if there is no agreement, many will pay a high price," Trump said in an interview with journalists.
He emphasized that the US has defined ending the war as its main diplomatic goal and maintains dialogue with both Moscow and Kyiv in this process.
At the same time, Trump emphasized that Ukraine could win for now, but this probability is very low. "Ukraine can still win, but this is much less likely. We are in favor of resolving everything peacefully," he said.
The White House leader also openly expressed his views on Putin and Zelenskyy. "They hate each other, which makes the situation even more complicated," Trump said.
For information, last week Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This conversation took place on October 16, and the next day, Trump held a face-to-face meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.
After the talks, the US President announced his intention to hold a second meeting with Putin. According to him, this summit could take place in Budapest. The exact date has not yet been determined, but the meeting is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
According to political analysts, Trump's statement indicates a further increase in diplomatic activity around Ukraine. Washington is also working on developing a new format that will lead to a long-term political solution to the conflict.
