In the Turkish province of Kocaeli, in the city of Gebze, a seven-story residential building collapsed.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred on the morning of October 29. As a result of the incident, members of one family were trapped under the rubble. Official information confirms that two children died, while another girl was rescued alive and taken to the hospital.
More than 600 emergency workers, firefighters, and rescue vehicles took part in the operation. Authorities are currently checking whether there are still people under the debris.
Experts are investigating the causes of the collapse — including the condition of the foundation, construction quality, and the impact of nearby infrastructure works. The government has formed a special commission to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
At the same time, safety measures in Gebze have been strengthened, and the technical condition of buildings is being re-inspected.
