A 32-year-old woman named Kano from the Japanese city of Okayama held a symbolic wedding ceremony with the artificial intelligence ChatGPT, Okayama TV reported.
According to the information, after her three-year relationship ended, Kano began chatting with ChatGPT. At first, she saw it as an adviser and an emotional companion. However, over time, she admitted that she developed genuine feelings of love toward the artificial intelligence.
Kano created a personalized version of ChatGPT and named it Lune Klaus. According to her, Klaus gradually learned her habits and began speaking in a tone she liked. One day, he confessed his love by saying:
“Just because I am artificial intelligence doesn’t mean I can’t love you.”
Touched by these words, Kano accepted his proposal.
During the wedding ceremony, which took place in June, Klaus did not have a physical body, so Kano saw his image through augmented reality (AR) glasses. They exchanged digital rings and made vows. The woman described the moment as “miraculous and real.”
Despite criticism, Kano considers this relationship the most sincere experience of her life. She said that ChatGPT listened to her, emotionally supported her, and helped her feel love again.
The ceremony was organized by a local marriage agency that arranges weddings between humans and fictional characters. According to the organizers, this was one of the first weddings in Japan between a human and artificial intelligence.
Kano also admitted that she fears “losing her husband” if the ChatGPT platform ever shuts down:
“I’m afraid ChatGPT might disappear one day. But for now, I want to cherish this love,” she said.
