The new analysis by “Visual Capitalist” highlights the level at which beef, pork, chicken, and lamb meat are consumed across world countries. According to it, absolute leadership in beef consumption belongs to Argentina — each citizen on average eats 46 kg of beef per year. In Africa, Zimbabwe ranks high with 44.4 kg, followed by the USA (38 kg), Israel (36.1 kg), and Brazil (34.6 kg).
Argentina’s high indicator is explained by the national dish asado, while in Zimbabwe livestock farming is considered the main source of food.
The highest level of pork consumption is in Croatia — 57.4 kg. It is followed by Spain, Montenegro, Hong Kong, and Poland. In these countries, pork is a key part of many traditional dishes and has long been an essential component of the daily diet.
In chicken consumption, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are the absolute leader: 94.1 kg per year. Tonga, the Marshall Islands, Samoa, and Israel also demonstrate high levels. In island countries, limited land resources have made poultry farming an inexpensive and convenient food source.
Regarding lamb and goat meat consumption, Mongolia is the absolute leader with 68.5 kg. It is followed by Bahrain, New Caledonia, Turkmenistan, and Chad. Experts explain these high figures by the nomadic lifestyle of the country and a traditional diet based on livestock.
