New rules for the registration of migrants in the Republic of Kazakhstan have been approved and will be implemented starting from July 1 of next year. The document was signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs on November 17, 2025. The main objective is the complete transition of the registration process to a digital format through the Migration Police Information System (IS MP). These requirements apply to all foreigners eligible for visa-free stays up to 90 days, including citizens of Uzbekistan.
The New Digital Registration Procedure
In accordance with the previous procedure, a foreign person is required to register no later than 30 calendar days from the date of crossing the border. However, now the process will be fully digitized. The migrant enters all personal information, the address of residence, and details about the person who provided the accommodation into the IS MP system.
The most important novelty is that the person providing the accommodation receives a special notification via a mobile application and must confirm or reject the registration electronically. Upon confirmation, an electronic registration certificate automatically appears in the migrant's personal cabinet. Registration is possible in residential premises, hotels, dormitories, and other places intended for human habitation.
Change of Address and Penalties
Providing incorrect information, violating the stay duration in Kazakhstan, or the host party refusing to confirm are grounds for refusal of registration. If the migrant changes their place of residence, they must register at the new address within 5 working days. The old address is automatically removed by the system.
Failure to comply with these requirements can lead to fines, refusal of registration, and even deportation.
