The impact of a strong magnetic storm will be noticeable on Earth tomorrow

The Earth's atmosphere is expected to be exposed to strong magnetic storms of the G2-G3 level on December 9-10. This was reported by specialists of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to the analysis, the strongest impact will appear on the afternoon of December 9, and the geomagnetic disturbances may continue until December 11.
Solar flares are regularly recorded, but only a small fraction of them can directly affect the Earth. The last strong impact was observed about a month ago - on November 12-13, when a G4 level magnetic storm occurred.
Also, the plasma cloud of the Class X explosion on December 1st touched Earth from the side, resulting in geomagnetic activity close to G3. Experts suggest that this time's activity might be similar in intensity.
The expected natural process creates very favorable conditions for observing auroras - polar lights. However, scientists note that they are not yet expecting serious negative consequences, and the impact of the storm is mainly limited to changes in the magnetic field and electromagnetic discomfort.
