During an informal summit of CIS state leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a separate meeting with Tajikistan's leader Emomali Rahmon. At the beginning of the meeting, Putin expressed his deep condolences over the tragedy that occurred at a school near Moscow, resulting in the death of 10-year-old Qobiljon Aliyev.
The Russian President described the incident as a shocking and utterly unacceptable crime. He stressed that any violence against children poses an extreme danger to society, and if it occurs in the form of a terrorist act or an intentional attack, it is entirely unfathomable.
"I would like to start our bilateral meeting by expressing my sincere condolences to you and the family of the Tajik child who died a few days ago. A crime of this nature against children is despicable and unforgivable. The investigation will be conducted thoroughly, and those responsible will be held accountable under the law," said Putin, as quoted by the Kremlin press service.
Putin emphasized that the incident had deeply affected him personally and asked Emomali Rahmon to convey his profound sympathy to the deceased child's family. He added that crimes of violence against children, in any form, exceed all boundaries of humanity.
It should be recalled that on December 16, a horrific incident occurred in the village of Gorki-2, located in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. A ninth-grade student, Timofey K., armed with a knife, entered a school and attacked students. As a result of the incident, a school security guard was injured, and 10-year-old Qobiljon Aliyev lost his life.
According to investigation materials, the suspect reportedly asked students about their ethnicity during the attack, and his clothing contained references to mass killings. He has been charged with murder and attempted murder and has been placed under two months of pretrial detention by a court ruling.
This tragedy has caused a significant public outcry and has brought the issue of child safety to the forefront of the agenda.
