In 2025, Saudi Arabia recorded the highest number of executions in its history. During the current year, 356 convicts were executed in the country.

According to analysts, the sharp increase in the death penalty is associated with the "anti-drug" policy pursued by the country's authorities. It is reported that 243 of those executed were punished on charges related to drug crimes.
For comparison, in 2024, 338 people were executed in Saudi Arabia. Thus, within a year, this indicator grew even more.
Human rights organizations express serious concern about this situation, noting that the practice of applying the death penalty is causing widespread discussion in the international arena.
