Trump’s Post About Maduro and the Military Operation in Venezuela

Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been “captured and taken out of the country.” The claim also circulated on some platforms citing Reuters.
In his post, Trump stressed that the operation was carried out “in cooperation with U.S. law enforcement agencies,” and that details could be provided later. Screenshots spread on social media, but they have not been independently verified.
On January 3, Reuters reported that the United States carried out military strikes on Venezuelan territory and that Caracas saw explosions, the sound of low-flying aircraft, black smoke, and power outages in some areas.
The Associated Press also covered the situation, reporting that at least seven explosions were heard, low-flying planes were seen, electricity was cut in some areas, and smoke rose from a military base. According to AP, the FAA issued a decision to restrict U.S. flights over Venezuelan territory.
According to Reuters, the Venezuelan government described the events as U.S. “military aggression,” and Maduro said in a statement that a national state of emergency and defense measures were activated and mobilization plans were launched.
It was noted that the White House and the Pentagon did not clarify their positions or provide comments and details for each reported source.
The incident signaled a further escalation of Venezuela’s political and military situation and raised new questions in international relations.
