The topic of peace negotiations around Ukraine has once again come to the forefront. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the next round of talks on resolving the Ukrainian issue will take place soon, but a specific date has not yet been set.
At the same time, Peskov has not yet confirmed claims that negotiations could be held specifically in the United States. That is, the question "when and where?" is still in the air - but the signal says "it won't last long."
What did Whitkoff say?
It was noted that the day before, Stephen Whitkoff also stated that communication had not stopped and that the participants had agreed to report on the results to their capital in order to continue work in the coming weeks. This means "everyone has returned to their place, but the film is not finished."
Closed-door negotiations and debates around the "peace plan"
According to media reports, working dialogues involving representatives of Russia, Ukraine, and the USA have previously been held in a closed format in several stages. For example, in January (January 23-24), the first round was held in Abu Dhabi, and in subsequent stages, the parties discussed some unresolved issues.
Against this backdrop, foreign media are also voicing various versions of the disputed aspects of the "peace plan": the issue of territories, the "freezing" of front lines, the parameters of the Ukrainian army, restrictions on external military infrastructure - all these are the most difficult and sensitive parts of the negotiations. Here, one side says "safety guarantee," the other side says "red line" - and it's difficult to find an agreement at this very point.
Moscow is not hiding the condition
One of the most frequently mentioned conditions in the Kremlin's position is the demands on the Donbas issue. Peskov and other officials have been making statements that this issue is seen as "the key to a long-term agreement."
Conclusion
In the current situation, the most obvious thing is that a new meeting is being prepared, but the date and location are still a secret. Importantly, the communication channel is not interrupted: the parties are not saying "we will talk later," but "we will continue soon." Now, as a fan, the game has ended, but no one has left the field yet.
