French scientists are ready to pay 5 thousand euros to volunteers for 10 days of hospitalization
The Space Medicine and Physiology Institute in Toulouse is looking for volunteers to prepare future space missions. Experiment participants will have to lie down and fast for ten consecutive days, Le Figaro reports.
Scientists are searching for ten men aged 20 to 40 who lead a healthy lifestyle. Researchers promise to pay €5,000 for participation in the experiment.
The volunteers will have to spend ten days lying down. Their bed will be slightly tilted down so that their head is below their feet. The goal is to reproduce the weightlessness effect. Visits will be prohibited, but participants will be able to maintain contact with their loved ones by phone.
Scientists also want to investigate the effects of fasting. Volunteers will be able to consume only 250 calories per day. "They will only be able to consume a spoonful of honey, broth, and fruit juice," explains Dr. Rebecca Biyet de Wilmer, head of the space clinic.
