Zelenskyy said he doesn't trust US representatives before Geneva

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that before the start of negotiations with Russia in Geneva, US Special Representative Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner informed him that Moscow really wants to stop fighting. He announced this in an interview with Axios.

According to Zelenskyy, based on this information, they proposed coordinating the work of the Ukrainian delegation at the trilateral meeting. However, the President emphasized that he is pessimistic about this and asked not to try to convince himself of such an opinion.

He also commented on Donald Trump's statement that Ukraine should make certain concessions, saying he hoped this would be a negotiation tactic, not a decision.

The President emphasized that the agreement providing for the unilateral withdrawal of troops from Donbas or the transfer of territories to Russia will not be accepted by Ukrainians. In his opinion, the people will not forgive such a decision. However, an agreement based on remaining on the existing front line could be supported in a referendum.

Zelenskyy believes that the most effective way to achieve a solution to regional issues is to hold a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin and instructed his team to organize a meeting at the level of leaders in Geneva.

At the same time, he rejected the proposal to hold the meeting in Moscow or Minsk.
