Iranian spies detained in Qatar: Al-Udayd base shelled

The tension in the Middle East now poses a serious threat to the territories of Qatar. Groups related to Iranian secret services were exposed in Doha, and the largest US military base in the region was targeted. Zamin.uz publication presents details of the latest critical situation in Qatar.

The State Security Service of Qatar has arrested 10 individuals who spied in favor of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). It turned out that these individuals were divided into two separate groups.

Espionage and sabotage plans

According to the Qatar News Agency, seven of the detainees were engaged in collecting horses for strategically important and military facilities in the country. The remaining three underwent special training to carry out sabotage operations using drones.

During the searches, accurate coordinates and location maps of important structures were found on them. During the investigation, the suspects admitted to acting on Tehran's instructions.

Missile strike on Al-Udayd base

According to the country's Ministry of Defense, the Iranian side launched two ballistic missiles against Al-Udayd, located in the territory of Qatar and considered the largest US military base in the Middle East. This offensive further destabilized the military balance in the region.

In addition, the Qatari Air Force and Air Defense Forces conducted successful operations:

  • Two Su-24 fighters were shot down;
  • 7 ballistic missiles and 5 drones were intercepted;
  • An attempt to attack Hamad International Airport in Doha has been repelled.

Cause and consequences of the dispute

Iran's actions are said to be a response to the military operation conducted by the US and Israel in Tehran on February 28. It should be recalled that as a result of that attack, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and his close associates were killed.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid al-Ansari strongly condemned Iran's attacks on civilian infrastructure and called on Tehran to be held accountable. According to reports, eight civilians were injured as a result of the rocket debris fall.

In your opinion, how will Qatar's direct involvement in this conflict change the situation in the region?
