Flame in the Middle East: Russia is winning, and the US is disrupting order

The tension in the Middle East is changing the geopolitical balance not only in the region, but also in the whole world. The EU leadership is concerned that unexpected parties are gaining the upper hand in this conflict. Zamin.uz analyzes the latest statements in the international political arena.
On Tuesday, March 10, European Council President António Costa addressed EU ambassadors in Brussels, addressing the "new reality" in the world. In his opinion, Russia sees the greatest benefit in the military actions of the USA and Israel against Iran.
How did Moscow become the "single winner"?
Koszta emphasized that the war in the Middle East is being mutually beneficial for Russia:
- Financial resource: The sharp rise in energy prices (oil and gas) is creating new sources of funding for the Kremlin to continue military operations in Ukraine.
- The shift in focus: The focus of the world community and military capabilities on the situation around Iran is weakening attention to the Ukrainian front.
Strait of Hormuz: The threat of an economic blockade
Due to the war, navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz suffered serious damage. As a reminder, during peacetime, 20% of the world's crude oil was transported through this corridor. Although Western sanctions are aimed at curbing Russia's revenues, the current price increases are nullifying the impact of these sanctions.
Cauchy's conclusion about the "three"
The head of the European Council described the situation as follows, stating that the international order was in doubt:
- "Russia is disrupting peace, China is hindering trade, and the US is questioning the rule-based international system."
In his opinion, the Iranian people should be supported, but "freedom and human rights cannot be achieved through bombs."
Trump and Iran: Who is right?
US President Donald Trump claims that the war with Iran is "leading ahead of schedule" and is almost over. In his opinion, Iran has no communication system and no air force left. The White House predicts that the war may continue for another four to six weeks.
However, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded sharply:
- "It is we who decide when the war will end."
- It was emphasized that the conditions on the battlefield and the final result are solely at the disposal of Tehran.
We will continue to observe how such sharp shifts in world politics affect the international economy. In your opinion, can the European Union maintain its position in this conflict?
