Why is Kharg Island the most important strategic point for Iran?

Kharg Island, although a small island in the Persian Gulf, is the main center of Iranian oil exports. Its importance depends on several reasons. If Hark Island fails, Iran's oil exports will almost cease. Military analysts call Hark the "oil heart" of the Iranian economy.
1. The main point of Iranian oil exports is:
• 80-90% of Iran's oil exports are shipped through this island;
• Large oil terminals, warehouses, and tanker loading facilities are located here.
2. Strategic location in the Persian Gulf:
• The Aral Sea is located near the oil routes leading to the Strait of Hormuz;
• From here, tankers transport oil directly to the global market.
3. Ground infrastructure and large reserves:
• There are oil storage facilities on the island with millions of barrels;
• Much of the infrastructure is underground and strongly protected.
4. If this island is destroyed:
• Oil revenues, which are the basis of the Iranian budget, will fall sharply;
• The state economy will suffer a serious blow.
5. During the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988):
• Iraqi aviation has repeatedly struck the island of Hark;
• Because this was considered the most severe blow to Iran's economy.
Kharg Island is the center of Iranian oil exports, the lifeblood of economic life, and a strategic logistics point in the Persian Gulf.
