Spanish Prime Minister accuses Netanyahu of the Lebanon issue

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has sharply criticized Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of pursuing in Lebanon a path similar to the destruction seen in Gaza. Speaking before Spain’s parliament, Sanchez said such actions risk spreading even greater instability across the Middle East.

He argued that the current military approach is not only worsening tensions in the region, but also distracting the world from major global challenges, including economic, social and environmental problems. Sanchez described the war as illegal, irrational and a very serious mistake.

According to the Spanish prime minister, remaining silent in the face of what he called an unjust war cannot be presented as caution. He said failing to oppose it would amount to cowardice, underlining his government’s increasingly strong rhetoric on the conflict.

Sanchez also said that moves by the United States and Israel against Iran have added to the escalation. In his view, these steps have further inflamed an already fragile situation and increased the risk of a broader regional crisis.
