Military-technical ties between the Middle East and Eastern Europe are reaching a new level. Ukraine is now not only a recipient of aid, but also a “security donor” on the international stage. Zamin.uz analyzes the details of the historic document signed in Riyadh and the common interests of the two countries.
An important cooperation agreement has been signed between the defense ministries of Ukraine and Saudi Arabia. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, this document will serve as a legal basis for technological cooperation and mutual investments between the two countries.
“Security donor”: Why is Ukrainian experience important for Saudi Arabia?
Ukraine has been successfully fighting off attacks from Iranian-developed ballistic missiles and Shahed drones for five years. Now Kiev is ready to share this unique experience with Riyadh.
- Air Defense (ADS): Ukraine will assist Saudi Arabia in developing the most necessary components of air defense systems.
- Integration and SI: Cooperation will not only include the supply of equipment, but also elements of system integration, the use of artificial intelligence and data analysis.
Meeting with the Crown Prince: Iran and energy in the spotlight
The conversation between Volodymyr Zelensky and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed important geopolitical issues:
1. Russia-Iran relations: Tehran's military support for Moscow and its impact on regional security.
2. Energy market: Stability of fuel prices and potential energy projects.
3. Security guarantees: Joint measures against Iranian missile threats in the Middle East and the Gulf.
Ukrainian experts already in the region
As it is known, more than 200 Ukrainian military specialists are operating in various parts of the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
- The main task: to develop the most effective ways to protect against Iranian drones and missiles and improve local systems.
- Expansion: Ukrainian experts are expected to arrive in Kuwait and other neighboring countries in the coming days.
“We are ready to contribute to ensuring the security of our friends who help us defend our independence,” the Ukrainian leader said.
