Zelensky's proposal to the Kremlin to stop the war on Easter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed to the Kremlin to stop mutual attacks on energy facilities. According to the Ukrainian leader, Ukraine is ready to respond in kind if Russia stops its attacks on its energy facilities. The statement was published on the official website of the Ukrainian president on April 6.

Zelensky said that this proposal had already been sent to Russia through US representatives. The Ukrainian president drew attention to the recent attacks, in particular, strikes by Russian drones on energy infrastructure and residential buildings in Odessa. Three people were killed in the attack.

"We have repeatedly offered Russia a ceasefire on Easter, during this holy time of the year, but for them today and every day is the same, there is no sacredness for them," Zelensky said. The president added: "If Russia is able to continue the war and finance it, then Russia does not want to make peace."

On March 30, the Ukrainian president also said that he was ready to discuss an energy truce on the eve of Easter. He added that he was ready to discuss a complete ceasefire.

However, the Kremlin rejected the proposal. According to the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, Russia did not see a clearly formulated "peace initiative" in the proposal and therefore rejected it.
