Iran abruptly halts negotiations with the United States

Iran decided on April 22 not to participate in planned negotiations with the United States in Pakistan, the Tasnim news agency reported.

According to reports, the Iranian delegation warned the American side through mediators not to travel to Islamabad. Tehran considers continuing negotiations in the current situation to be inappropriate.

The Iranian side explained this decision by citing the failure of the United States to fulfill certain obligations. Specifically, it was noted that Washington did not adhere to promises made regarding the situation in Lebanon.

Furthermore, objections were raised regarding the continuation of the maritime blockade, despite high demands being set in the initial stages and certain steps being taken by Iran.

Tehran representatives evaluated continuing negotiations under such conditions as ineffective, stating that they view it as a waste of time.
