22-year-old Kazakh man sentenced to life imprisonment in Dubai

A young citizen of Kazakhstan has faced a severe sentence in the United Arab Emirates. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, a 22-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Dubai court.

According to official data, on March 18, 2026, the Dubai Court of First Instance found the citizen guilty of several serious crimes, sentencing him to life imprisonment along with a financial fine.

Relatives of the young man state that he traveled to the United Arab Emirates in 2024 for employment, where he worked as a driver. They claim he may be innocent and could have fallen victim to false accusations.

Commenting on the case, Alibek Bakayev stated that the issue of extraditing the youth to his homeland is not currently being considered. According to him, the appeal process is ongoing, and no decision will be made until all legal stages have been completed.

It was also noted that the case is being processed in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Currently, lawyers and the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Dubai are handling the matter.

According to officials, the consulate is providing the citizen with necessary legal and practical assistance. The situation remains under the ministry's supervision, and all processes are being closely monitored.
