King Charles III pays official visit to the USA after 19 years

King Charles III of the United Kingdom has arrived in the United States on an official visit after a 19-year hiatus. Yesterday, April 27, he arrived in Washington along with his wife, Queen Camilla. They were ceremoniously welcomed at the White House by Donald Trump and U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.

This visit marks the British monarch's first official trip to the USA since 2007. The initial days of the visit began with diplomatic meetings and official ceremonies.

Today, April 28, Charles III is scheduled to deliver a speech before both houses of the U.S. Congress. This event holds historical significance, as it will be recorded as the second time a British monarch has addressed the U.S. Congress. Previously, Queen Elizabeth II addressed Congress in 1991.

During the visit program, the King and Queen will also travel to New York City. There, they are expected to participate in a ceremony dedicated to the memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

This visit coincides with a time when political relations between the USA and the United Kingdom are undergoing a complex period. In particular, it is assessed that Donald Trump's foreign policy toward Europe is influencing these relations.

Nevertheless, the U.S. President expressed confidence that the King's visit would further strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
