Jackal enters village and attacks people in Kazakhstan

In the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan, a jackal entered a village area and bit two children and one adult. Tengri News reported on this.

According to information, the predator first severely bit a 4-year-old girl on her legs and fingers, after which it also attacked a 15-year-old teenager. A 42-year-old man who came to help the children tried to stop the animal by striking it with an axe, but the jackal managed to bite him as well.

All victims received necessary medical assistance in hospital conditions and were administered anti-rabies vaccinations. Their condition is currently assessed as stable, but the girl, who sustained serious injuries, remains under medical supervision.

Experts note that jackals do not typically attack humans. Such incidents can mainly be caused by three factors:

  • rabies;
  • protecting their young;
  • food shortages.

Veterinary specialists have taken samples from the attacking animal and are conducting tests to determine the presence of rabies.
