US troops to be reduced: Germany was prepared for this

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has responded to the United States' plan to withdraw a portion of its military forces from the country. He emphasized that this decision did not come as a surprise to Berlin and was a process that had been anticipated to some extent.
According to Pistorius, the presence of US military personnel in Europe, particularly in Germany, holds strategic importance for both sides. He noted that this cooperation will continue and that military ties between the two nations will be maintained.
Currently, approximately 40,000 American military personnel are stationed in Germany, the highest number among European countries. The US has been using these bases not only to ensure European security but also to support operations in Africa and the Middle East.
However, experts are also drawing attention to the potential negative consequences of this decision. In particular, some major military programs, including plans to deploy modern missiles, could be canceled. This could affect the security balance in the region and, according to some analysts, potentially create a certain "gap" in the capabilities to deter Russia.
At the same time, while the plan to reduce US troops was somewhat expected for Germany, it is noted that this step could impact the European security system and the strategic balance within NATO.
Thus, at a time when the geopolitical situation is shifting, this decision carries significant weight not only for Germany but for the security of all of Europe. The focus now turns to the consequences these changes will bring.
