Danish Princess Isabella Begins 11-Month Military Service

Princess Isabella, the 19-year-old member of Denmark’s royal family, has officially joined the military. She arrived at a military unit near the city of Slagelse and will serve with the Guard Hussar Regiment for the next 11 months. Town & Country reported this.

According to reports, around 1,600 other young men and women were also accepted into the Danish army this year. During her service, Isabella has decided to waive the salary and other payments provided to military personnel.

The princess’s brother, Crown Prince Christian, also previously served at this military unit. He later continued his special military education in the lieutenant program.

Denmark reformed its military service system in 2024 amid changes in the security situation in Europe. As a result, the service period was extended from four to 11 months, and women were included in the mandatory military service system. The country also plans to increase the annual number of conscripts to 7,500 by 2033.
