Father aims to break world record while pushing daughter in stroller

A former US track and field athlete is claiming a new world record after completing a one-mile run in 4 minutes and 17 seconds while pushing his daughter in a stroller.

Steven Biebelhausen, a former University of Miami runner, participated in the Guardian Mile race in Cleveland, Ohio. He pushed his daughter, Blake, in a specialized stroller across the Hope Memorial Bridge, finishing the mile in 4:17.

If Guinness World Records officially verifies the result, Biebelhausen could become the world record holder for the fastest mile run while pushing a stroller.

The current record is held by Silas Frans, who completed the mile in 4 minutes and 26.29 seconds in June 2025. Biebelhausen's time of 4:17 is nearly 9 seconds faster than the existing record.

Interestingly, the athlete did not initially set out to break the world record. His primary goal was to beat the race's 4:44 record and finish in under 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

However, his performance in the race exceeded expectations. Biebelhausen expressed confidence that he could further improve his time with additional training.

Now, his 4-minute 17-second result must undergo official verification. Only then can he be recognized as the world record holder for the fastest mile while pushing a stroller.
