Toyota leads global car sales in 2024

Toyota becomes the world's best-selling car brand in 2024, reported cenyavto.com. The Japanese company sold approximately 10.7 million new vehicles worldwide in 2024. However, demand for Toyota cars fell by 4% last year, meaning the company set another sales record despite a decline in purchases.

Interestingly, while Toyota remains the global leader, it sells very few electric cars. Out of the 10.7 million vehicles, only 140,000 were electric, accounting for just 1.3% of total sales.

This result is significant for many automakers, as it indicates that most of the world (except China) still prefers internal combustion engine vehicles over fully electric models.
