A new initiative has been put forward in Germany to end the instability in the fuel market. The country's regional authorities proposed limiting price fluctuations for gasoline and diesel several times a day. This was reported by the Rheinische Post.
According to the proposal, fuel prices can be increased only once during the day - at 12:00, that is, at lunchtime. At the same time, the price reduction can be carried out at any time. According to experts, this measure will ensure market stability and reduce uncertainty and distrust among drivers.
According to the Federal Cartel Bureau of Germany, currently, gas stations in the country have the right to change prices up to 18 times a day. This misleads drivers, creates an uncertain situation in the market, and undermines trust. The new procedure was developed to prevent such situations and regulate the market.
The initiative was put forward by the Baden-Württemberg government. According to reports, this idea was first discussed in the Bundesrat in 2012, so it is estimated that it is likely to be adopted in the upper house.
The fuel industry and gas station operators positively assessed this initiative. Herbert Rabl, a representative of the Union of Car Wash Operators, stated that "such a restriction will help stabilize the market and reduce consumer anxiety."
According to him, in many cases, the owners of the stations also do not know exactly why the prices changed so sharply. These decisions are mainly made by large oil companies.
According to experts, the procedure for raising fuel prices once a day will not only regulate the market, but also increase transparency for citizens. This will allow drivers to anticipate price dynamics and plan their expenses.
In Germany, this initiative is currently under discussion, but the public and manufacturers are looking forward to its adoption. In this case, long-awaited stability may arise in the country's fuel market.
