The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has adopted a decision to align the names of railway stations, terminals, and sidings under the Joint Stock Company “Uzbekistan Railways” with the rules and standards of the state language. The decision is based on the laws “On the State Language” and “On the Names of Geographical Objects.”
According to the decision, all names of railway facilities in the “Uzbekistan Railways” system will be approved according to a special list. From now on, only approved names must be used in all official documents, administrative materials, and service correspondence.
The Ministry of Transport and “Uzbekistan Railways” will make the necessary changes to documents and databases within three months. Additionally, signs at railway stations and terminals will be rewritten in the Uzbek Latin alphabet.
These measures are aimed at strengthening compliance with state language standards, ensuring a unified naming style, and creating convenience for passengers. This will establish a single writing system in the transport infrastructure.
Control over the implementation of the decision has been assigned to Deputy Prime Minister A.J. Ramatov and Transport Minister I.R. Maxkamov.
