Obtaining a driver’s license will become easier
In Uzbekistan, the process of obtaining a driver’s license for moped and scooter owners will be simplified. The government has adopted a new decision, the Road Traffic Safety Service reported. The new rules will take effect from 2026.

From now on, a separate “A1” category license will be introduced for mopeds and scooters. Attending a driving school will not be required — citizens can take the exam directly and obtain the document. The exam consists of 20 test questions, and answering 16 correctly will be sufficient.

In addition, drivers who already hold “A”, “B”, “C”, or “D” category licenses will be allowed to operate “A1” category vehicles without additional authorization. This will create convenience for many drivers.

Starting from February 1, 2026, the requirement for theoretical training to obtain “A” and “B” category licenses will also be abolished. Applicants will only need to complete 20 hours of practical training before taking the exam. Theoretical knowledge can be studied anywhere — online or independently.

Furthermore, from April 1, 2026, the penalty point system will be expanded. Some violations recorded by road cameras will also result in penalty points. Fines will be assigned directly to the driver operating the vehicle, ensuring a fairer system.
