BYD unveils the Seal 08

BYD is getting ready to launch the new Seal 08 hybrid sedan in China, according to fresh filings from the country’s industry regulator. The model will arrive in two versions: the front-wheel-drive DM-i and the all-wheel-drive DM-p. Reports Xn----7sbbeeptbfadjdvm5ab9bqj.xn--p1ai.
The hybrid sedan keeps the same overall look as the electric Seal 08. BYD has recently sharpened the design of its Ocean series, giving the cars a more aggressive and dynamic appearance while keeping the smooth body lines that define the range. The new sedan is also expected to feature lidar sensors at both the front and rear, which could support advanced driver-assistance functions.
The Seal 08 measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,505 mm high, with a 3,030 mm wheelbase. Depending on the version, curb weight ranges from 2,145 to 2,270 kg. Interior details have not yet been revealed for either the hybrid or electric model.
Both hybrid versions use a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 156 hp, paired with one or two electric motors. Total output is listed at 272 hp for one version and 544 hp for the other. That setup matches the powertrain used in BYD’s Datang DM-p flagship crossover.
The electric Seal 08 EV is expected to offer up to about 1,000 km of range and add 400 km in just five minutes of ultra-fast charging. No launch date has been announced yet, but local estimates place the EV at 300,000 to 350,000 yuan, while the hybrid could be slightly cheaper.
