Hollywood star Will Smith, through his entertainment company Westbrook, signed a multi-film contract with Paramount, writes Variety.
Westbrook founders Will and Jada Pinkett Smith emphasized that the company’s main goal is to create “international” films starring Smith, aimed at a wide audience. It is also reported that these projects may later turn into franchises.
Currently, work is underway on two films: “Sugar Pirates” and “Rabbit Hole.” The first is based on writer Chuck Hogan’s novel “Demons in Exile.” In it, Will Smith plays a former special forces soldier, the leader of an elite squad determined to put an end to drug trafficking in Boston.
The “Rabbit Hole” project was written by Jon Spaihts, who also wrote the scripts for Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” films. Will Smith’s company plans to shoot both of these films and all future projects at Paramount’s Hollywood studios.
Westbrook was founded in 2019, and its biggest achievement is considered the film “King Richard.” For his role in this film, Will Smith won an Oscar in 2022.
