Illumination and Nintendo have presented the sequel to the popular “Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The new project will be called The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, wrote Deadline.
The characters will again be voiced by Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek). The project will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. Matt Fogel is responsible for the screenplay.
The original animated film was dedicated to the adventures of the plumber brothers Mario and Luigi in a fairy-tale world. In the sequel, however, the heroes will face new challenges in space. The premiere is scheduled for April 3, 2026.
It should be recalled that the “Super Mario Bros. Movie” became one of the most profitable projects of last year, grossing 1.3 billion dollars.
