Disney, Universal, and Warner Bros. sued Chinese AI

Walt Disney, Universal, and Warner Bros. Discovery companies filed a lawsuit against China's Artificial Intelligence Corporation MiniMax. According to court documents, Hollywood giants are accusing Hailuo AI of illegally using images of popular films and characters to advertise their products, writes Pravilamag.

Hailuo AI users managed to create videos and images with characters such as Dart Vader in Star Wars, minions in Despicable Me, and Wonder Woman. This process was promoted by advertising and publications under the slogan "Hollywood in your pocket."

So far, representatives of Hailuo AI have not responded to the claim. Therefore, film companies are demanding a court order to terminate the service without copyright protection.

The companies' statement reads: "Responsible artificial innovations are important, and the court proceedings against MiniMax once again demonstrate our commitment to prosecuting copyright infringers regardless of where they are."
