A sensational event occurred in Turkish show business. A number of famous artists and actors in the country were arrested in connection with drug propaganda and smuggling. This was reported on October 8 by the Halk TV channel.
According to reports, the Istanbul Prosecutor General's Office's Criminal Investigation Department for Smuggling, Drug Trafficking, and Economic Crimes conducted a special operation against several prominent figures in the show business world. Among them are stars such as Hadise, Dylan and Engin Polat, Simge Sagin, Demet Evgar, and Kubilay Aka.
According to the TV channel, the list of detainees is quite long. Among them are a number of famous names: Birse Akalay, Birsen Berrak Tuzunatach, Jeren Moray Orjan, Deren Tal-u, Duygu O'zaslon Mutaf, Feyza Altun, Irem Deriji, Qaan Yildirim, Mert Yazidjioğlu, Metin Akdyulger, O'zge O'zpirinchchi, Zaynab Merich Aral Keskin, and Ziynet Sali.
Currently, they are being taken to the gendarmerie department of the Istanbul region for questioning and blood tests.
Aishagul Mermer, a lawyer for singer Irem Derzhi, told reporters that no official information about the case has been released yet. "We have gone to the interrogation process. After all the information is formalized, the public will be provided with accurate information," he said.
Ziynet Sali's lawyer also commented on his client: "Ziynet Sali could not participate in the interrogation because she is currently abroad. When he returns, he will give his testimony. He has never smoked a cigarette in his life and has no connection to any criminal group."
On the other hand, according to the publication Sözcü, a statement was made by the lawyer of singer Simge Sagin, who is listed on the list of detainees. According to him, the singer has been in the US for a week and is not currently in Turkey.
As a reminder, in February of this year, Turkish pop star Sardor Ortaç was also sentenced to 10 months in prison and a fine of 400 lira by court order for promoting illegal gambling.
