Dogs may also be nominated for an “Oscar”

Now, at the “Oscar” awards, four-legged actors may also have their own nomination. IFC film company sent an official letter on behalf of the dog Indy, who played the main role in the movie “Through the Dog’s Eyes,” to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, writes Variety.

In the letter, Indy humorously asked Academy members to consider him as a nominee for “Best Actor.” “Although critics highly praised my performance, I was very upset to hear that I am not worthy of the ‘Best Actor’ nomination. It felt like someone took my leash away,” the letter said.

The authors also noted that animals have played an important role in cinema history in such films as “White Fang,” “Free Willy,” “Baby,” “The Birds,” and “War Horse.” According to them, “animal actors often carry the entire emotional weight and even the main spirit of the film franchise.”

The plot of the film revolves around a young man named Todd and his loyal dog Indy. The man moves into a rural house inherited from his grandfather but discovers that strange creatures and spirits live there. Indy must show heroism to protect his owner from these threats.

The main role in the horror film was performed by the dog Indy, who belongs to the film’s director Ben Leonberg. The Russian premiere of “Through the Dog’s Eyes” is scheduled for October 16.
