Idris Elba was knighted

Actor Idris Elba was awarded the title of Knight. It has been included in the list of traditional New Year's awards in the UK, Bloomberg reports.

The actor received the title of knight for his contribution to working with youth. In addition to Elba, another 1,100 politicians, diplomats, businessmen, cultural and sports figures were awarded this honor.

The list also includes British figure skaters Jane Thorville and Christopher Dean, as well as singer Ellie Golding and actress Cynthia Erivo.

In November, King Charles III knighted former England captain David Beckham.
