Zulya role star Barchin Gafurova opens up about difficult trials in her life

Actress and TV presenter Barchin Gʻofurova, who became famous for her role as Zulya in the series "Baxt ovchisi", was born Umida. Abandoned by her father in childhood, Barchin still lives with the trauma of that period. The actress's life path has not been easy: her mother suffered from cancer, she was defrauded of a large sum of money by a loved one, and she faced various insults due to her physical appearance. Because of her antagonistic roles, she has even faced death threats from some women. Barchin Gʻofurova turned 36 this year.
“My parents opposed me becoming a dancer”

Born in Tashkent in 1990, Barchin spent her childhood in Qashqadaryo. She attended school in the city of Qarshi.
— My parents are originally from Qashqadaryo, but I was born in Tashkent. I dreamed of being a dancer since childhood, but my family members opposed this profession. Asking them to at least let me be an actress, I applied to the "Drama Acting" department of the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture. Unfortunately, I was expelled that year because I could not pay the tuition fees. I applied again the following year and was admitted on a state grant. After graduating from the institute, I also worked at the Uzbekistan State Satire Theater, the actress recalls.
“I know the difficulties of living in rented housing well”
Recalling her student years, Barchin says she dreamed of becoming an actress like Saida Rametova while serving her.
— We are two children in the family. My younger brother and I had a very good childhood. Unfortunately, just before I finished school, my brother was diagnosed with a serious illness. My mother decided to sell our house to treat him. It is very difficult to remember those days. Thankfully, my brother was treated in Prague and fully recovered. But living in rented houses was not easy. To be honest, due to financial difficulties, I had to work in restaurants after classes. I worked as a waitress at the “Gap” cafe next to the institute. One of the regular guests there was actress Saida Rametova. I dreamed of becoming an actress like her. My dream came true through Ozod Shams's series “Ishq oʻyinlari”, says Barchin Gʻofurova.
“My mother fell seriously ill while I was playing the role of Zulya”

The actress, who became widely known for the role of Zulya Bositovna in the “Baxt ovchisi” series, spoke about the reason she accepted this role and her mother's illness during the filming process.
— When the offer for this series came, our financial situation was dire. There were times when there was no food at home. I consulted with my mother and agreed to the role. The daily fee for the first season was set at 233,000 soums. They promised to increase it later, but that did not happen. Nevertheless, I did not complain because I loved my role. When the first season achieved great success, my mother's condition worsened and she was diagnosed with cancer. Treatment required a large amount of money. For this reason, I asked for an increase in my fee for the second season. This request did not please everyone, and the issue of removing me from the role was even raised. But after some executives supported me, I continued my work, the actress says.
“I decided to have surgery because of the insults”

Barchin revealed that she underwent gastric reduction surgery due to criticism regarding her appearance.
— It was not easy to make this decision. But if I hadn't done it, my mental state would have worsened further. Insulting comments on social networks led me to this decision, she says.
The actress weighed 88 kilograms before the surgery. Although the operation was successful, the recovery process was not easy. Nevertheless, she is satisfied with her current figure.
“Voices telling me to kill myself would come to my ears”
Barchin also spoke about the difficult period that led her to change her name a few years ago.
— My name used to be Umida. For certain reasons, I changed it to Barchin. I was in a relationship with a young man for 9 years, but his family did not accept me. Because of this, various “issiq-sovuq” (black magic) rituals were performed. After this situation, I fell into a severe mental state, and there were even attempts at suicide. I would hear voices in my ears telling me to “kill yourself”, the actress says.
“I made a big mistake by trusting a fraudulent man”

The actress also openly stated that she was deceived in love and gave the money she earned to the man.
— We planned to get married. But later I learned his true face. I was deeply hurt when I saw that he even used my mother's medical documents to ask people for money. After that incident, my trust was broken again, says Barchin.
“I am not the child of a wealthy person”
Barchin Gʻofurova emphasizes that her only support in life is her mother.
— I am not the daughter of a wealthy person as some think. I only earn income through acting. My mother and I live in a rented house. My brother is abroad and sometimes helps, says the actress.
“There is no man in my life, I am my own support”

— For now, there is no man in my life. I rely on myself. I am tired of love, betrayal, and painful situations, says Barchin Gʻofurova.
The actress also touched upon her relationship with her father, saying that she met him after many years and that their relationship has now improved.
— My biggest dream in childhood was to fill the refrigerator. Today, I have achieved that goal, says the actress.
