New Trade Route Connecting Pakistan and Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's state company "Temiryulkargo" and Pakistan's International Road Transport (IRU) Chamber of Pakistan have officially confirmed their intent for strategic cooperation. The agreement aims to expand logistics capabilities and strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

The primary objective of the document is not only to increase freight volume but also to enhance the quality of transport services between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The parties plan to develop and implement comprehensive mechanisms, covering multimodal, monomodal, and intermodal transportation.

This collaboration will ensure optimal delivery times and costs by integrating rail and road transportation for freight delivery. The agreement also emphasizes deeper regional integration.

The document lays the foundation for implementing a new transport corridor along the "Pakistan-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" route. This initiative is expected to become a vital link in forming a single economic region connecting South and Central Asia.

Additionally, a second strategic route will also be developed. It will pass through Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, creating additional opportunities for freight flows in northern and other directions.

To ensure the uninterrupted operation of these corridors, the agreement provides for joint activities to modernize and develop transport infrastructure. The leadership of "Temiryulkargo" emphasized that the activation of export, import, and transit shipments will serve as a strong impetus for the growth of trade and economic relations.

The implementation of this agreement is expected to significantly strengthen transport links between the Central and South Asian regions. For landlocked Uzbekistan, this partnership opens wider access to Pakistan's major seaports, which holds strategic importance.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, a delegation from the IRU Chamber of Pakistan visited Uzbekistan last week. During negotiations with representatives of "Temiryulkargo," practical aspects of cooperation were thoroughly discussed.

In particular, opportunities to utilize alternative routes for logistics diversification and the delivery of perishable goods requiring special transportation conditions were reviewed. As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached to soon launch pilot freight shipments, marking a shift from declarations to practical actions.
