The appearance of the first teeth in infants is always an important and interesting period for parents. Before the teeth come through, several signs can be noticed in the baby. For example, the baby becomes fussy, reaches hands to the face, and may pull at the nose or ears. Saliva production increases, and the baby puts everything into the mouth. Sleep patterns are disrupted: breastfed babies nurse more frequently, while formula-fed babies do not release the pacifier from their mouths.
These signs indicate that the teeth will come soon. Body temperature may rise slightly, usually up to 37.5°C, and if the process is not complicated by viral or bacterial infections, it lasts a few days. The temperature rise is due to inflammation in the gums, the effect of biologically active substances, and the risk of infection. If the temperature exceeds 38°C, lasts more than 4 days, and the baby cries constantly, it is necessary to consult a pediatrician.
In adults, teeth eruption does not occur as quickly as in infants, especially wisdom teeth, and the process may last a month or longer. If pain and discomfort are strong, it is recommended to see a dentist. This way, teeth come through faster and healthier, and the process is comfortable for the baby.
