New electricity tariffs to come into effect in Uzbekistan from May 1

New electricity tariffs to come into effect in Uzbekistan from May 1
Important changes are expected in the procedure for paying for electricity in Uzbekistan. In accordance with Resolution No. 194 of the Cabinet of Ministers, new tariffs will be implemented for the population from May 1, 2025. This was officially announced by the Ministry of Energy.

Why did the tariffs change?
This resolution was developed on the instructions of the President and was introduced in order to create convenience for the population. The price increase, which was previously scheduled to begin on April 1, has been postponed to May 1, while new, more favorable payment amounts have been set.

What will the new prices be?
The most important innovation is the introduction of a new consumption category from 201 kWh to 500 kWh. That is:
  • Up to 200 kWh — basic tariff
  • From 201 to 500 kWh — 800 soums (previously this amount was paid for 900 to 1000 kWh)

Thus, in the example of a household that uses an average of 500 kWh of energy per month:

That is, the total payment will not change, but the tariff system has been reformulated: 30 thousand soums have been added to the basic rate, but a discount of 100 soums has been provided for the range of 201–500 kW.

There are other changes
According to the new resolution, electricity and natural gas prices will be revised annually on May 1. Indexation is set to be based on the level of inflation and will not exceed 10%.

Despite the increase in prices for energy resources, the government is establishing a moderate and fair tariff system for the population. Even for households in the category of households that use the most electricity, prices have been calculated without "skyrocketing". Now you can plan your electricity consumption and save money.
