Drivers using pedestrian walkways will be fined

Drivers using pedestrian walkways will be fined
Violation of traffic rules in Uzbekistan, especially those that threaten pedestrian safety, is now subject to stricter penalties. According to the law signed by the President on April 10, several important amendments and additions have been made to the Administrative Responsibility Code.

Sidewalks, bike paths, and green areas — prohibited for drivers!

From now on, driving a vehicle on sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle lanes, and adjacent green areas is considered a violation of the law. Placing illegal obstacles or structures that block the movement of traffic participants, as well as driving on special lanes allocated for public transport, are also subject to administrative penalties.

What are the fines?

According to the new regulation, driving on a special lane designated for public transport vehicles:
  • for the first offense — a fine of 1 basic calculation amount (currently 340,000 soums);
  • if repeated within one year after an administrative punishment — a fine of 3 times the basic amount, that is up to 1,020,000 soums.

Strict measures against violators

To ensure order and safety on the roads, government bodies will strengthen control related to these changes. Drivers who unlawfully occupy sidewalks and pedestrian paths can now expect serious penalties.

Reminder for drivers:
Areas designated for pedestrians are not for driver convenience — they are there to protect human life. Disregarding this not only leads to fines, but can also result in fatal consequences.
