On May 23, 2025, the well-known South Korean low-cost airline ("low-cost carrier") T'way Air opened a new chapter in the aviation history of Uzbekistan. The airline's first direct flight successfully took off from Incheon International Airport in Seoul and landed at Islam Karimov International Airport in Tashkent. This event is expected to lay the foundation for bringing relations between the two countries to a new level.
The new flights on the Seoul–Tashkent–Seoul route, organized by T'way Air, are planned to be operated regularly four times a week. This will create a solid basis for further strengthening tourism, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two countries. It is especially important to note that launching these flights will enhance ties in the tourism sector, significantly increasing the flow of foreign visitors to our country and strengthening Uzbekistan's position in the international tourism market.
A notable aspect of this flight is that not only ordinary tourists arrived in Uzbekistan on this historic flight, but also the world-famous South Korean K-pop group BLACKSWAN. This group gained widespread popularity worldwide due to its musical creativity, especially among young people. During their visit to Uzbekistan, the group plans to conduct large-scale promotional activities related to the historical landmarks, ancient cities, beautiful natural landscapes, and the rich cultural heritage of our nation.
The number of fans of the K-pop group BLACKSWAN on social media and television exceeds 20 million people, which provides a huge opportunity to enhance Uzbekistan's international prestige. The visit of the Korean stars sparked great interest, especially among young people, and has become an effective tool for showcasing Uzbekistan’s tourism potential on the global stage.
It should be noted that the airline T'way Air was founded in 2010 and currently occupies an important position in the aviation sector of the Republic of Korea. The company's headquarters is located in Seoul. The airline's main strategy is to strengthen ties in tourism and business by providing high-quality and affordable air services.
The company's future plans include increasing the number of flights, opening new destinations, and further developing the tourism industry in South Korea and Uzbekistan. This initiative will bring economic and social benefits to both countries, creating the basis for mutually beneficial partnerships.
With the launch of new flights, it is expected that the quality of tourism services in Uzbekistan will improve, new hotels and service facilities will open, and new jobs will be created in the country. This will have a positive impact not only on economic growth but also on the quality of life of the population.
In addition, thanks to the launch of this air route, interaction and cultural exchange between the citizens of the two countries will intensify, strengthening the bonds of friendship between our peoples. In particular, Korean tourists will have the opportunity to become better acquainted with historical centers of Uzbekistan such as the ancient cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva.
Thus, the new flights by the T'way Air company will become an important event in the history of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. It remains to be hoped that in the future, relations between Uzbekistan and South Korea will deepen even further and lay the foundation for new socio-economic and cultural ties.
