
In a number of regions of Uzbekistan, the activities of individuals who illegally sold land for large sums of money and tried to make a profit have been restricted. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Service.
In particular, the head of a limited liability company operating in the field of horticulture in the city of Khiva, Khorezm region, falsely declared 19.9 hectares of land belonging to his enterprise as 30 hectares, and demanded 120 thousand US dollars in exchange for registering it in the name of the buyer through official acquaintances. In addition, when he asked for an additional 60 thousand dollars to obtain permission to build a multi-storey residential building on an 80-hectare part of this land, a total of 180 thousand dollars, the State Security Service and the Khorezm region Internal Affairs Department conducted an urgent operation and the criminal was detained with money and physical evidence.
A similar case was also observed in the city of Kokand, Fergana region. The leading inspector of the Kokand city department of the Cadastre Agency claimed that he had helped a farmer in the agricultural sector to be allocated 5.8 hectares of irrigated land in 2024 through the regional administration, and under the pretext of giving a "share" to officials, demanded $150,000 from the farmer's manager. This illegal action was stopped as a result of a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
An even more interesting case was recorded in the Tashkent region. A resident of the city of Angren, born in 1987, with several previous convictions, promised to sell 18 hectares of land intended for gardening in the city and 2 hectares of land belonging to the adjacent Ahangaron forest farm for $100,000 and to formalize the documents through cadastre officials for another $21,000. He was detained by officers of the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office while receiving the requested sum of $121,000.
Another illegal case related to the sale of land was also exposed in Surkhandarya region. An employee of the Topalang Hydropower Plant under the Topalang-Qoratoq Irrigation Systems Department promised to register 32 hectares of land in the protected area of a river and canal flowing through Saryosiyo district as personal property in the name of the buyer for $73,500. He was detained by officers of the State Security Service, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and the Internal Affairs Bureau while receiving $70,000 and 39 million soums for this transaction.
Earlier, a citizen was detained in the Fergana region after agreeing to illegally sell 2.5 hectares of land for $650,000 and receiving $100,000. Also, in the Akhangaron district of the Tashkent region, an illegal plan of a person who wanted to sell 32 hectares of agricultural land for $2.4 million was foiled.
In addition, another person was detained in the Surkhandarya region after agreeing to sell 45 hectares of agricultural land for $60,000 and receiving $56,700 and 43 million soums. In the Urgench district of the Khorezm region, a citizen who received $45,000 and 13 million soums for registering 24 hectares of land belonging to the state reserve in the name of the buyer through the cadastre was also detained by the relevant authorities.
Currently, criminal cases have been opened on all of the above cases and the investigation is ongoing. Officials are calling on the population to avoid illegal land transactions and to immediately contact law enforcement agencies if they encounter such situations. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
