In recent days, the issue of migrants has again become an issue in the strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan. According to Maria Zakharova, the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the note from the Uzbek Foreign Ministry and all the information contained in it are being fully and thoroughly studied. According to Zakharova, the relevant request from Uzbekistan has been officially sent to the competent Russian authorities, and the results will be communicated to Tashkent in the prescribed manner.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, Ahror Burkhanov, made an official statement, expressing concern about the sharp increase in searches and rough treatment of Uzbek citizens in Russia. It is said that during large-scale raids in Moscow and St. Petersburg, many migrants, including citizens of Uzbekistan, were subjected to abusive language and the use of force by law enforcement officers.
This situation caused widespread public discussion. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow sent an official note to the Russian Foreign Ministry on this issue and asked for a legal explanation. Representatives of the Uzbek Migration Agency in Russia have also taken special control of the situation. Special channels of appeal have been launched to provide legal assistance and advice to our affected compatriots.
Maria Zakharova emphasized in her speech that “Russia and Uzbekistan have historically strong alliances and comprehensive strategic partnership relations. We approach all issues between the two countries with the appropriate responsibility and caution.” According to her, direct communication and exchange of information has also been established between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, and any signals and complaints are fully investigated.
During the raids conducted by Russian law enforcement agencies in Moscow and St. Petersburg on June 8, it became clear that some employees were rude and unfair towards migrants. In particular, the videos and messages circulating on social networks are causing concern among many. The Uzbek Migration Agency’s representative office in Russia said that it is taking control of the situation and has asked the victims or their relatives to contact them.
Such incidents have once again shown how important the mechanisms of constant dialogue and mutual trust between the two countries are. In order to protect the interests of citizens and find a fair solution, official bodies are taking all necessary measures within their powers. It is expected that the situation will be clarified through negotiations and information exchange.
The sides of Uzbekistan and Russia continue to approach all problems related to migrants with impartiality and sincerity. All complaints and appeals are expected to be considered objectively, and the relevant results are expected to be announced soon.
